Wind Turbine
A wind turbine uses the power of wind to spin an electrical generator, thereby producing usable electricity. While windmills have been used for centuries as a means of providing direct mechanical power, modern turbines turn that mechanical power into electricity which can then be used to power homes and businesses. This form of power generation has gained a lot of traction with the general public in recent years.
Wind turbines are often used in large scale wind farms for producing high amounts of electricity. These farms are often used to create power for entire communities. They are growing in popularity because they create no pollution or environmental damage.
The downside to using a wind turbine is that wind is not always available. Because the force of wind is controlled by natural forces, it varies in its intensity with little to no warning. In many cases, storage batteries are used to offset this variation when possible.
